A fair and honest questions really. Why does CSIT need another website? There are a few reasons and the first is pretty obvious, we’re computer people and we love making new things, especially if it involves websites. The second reason for the new site revolves around the new Parkland College website and more importantly, what the new Parkland College website is meant to do and not do.

The new Parkland College website is meant for recruitment of new students, plain and simple. It’s wasn’t built for current students to get information on the program they are currently in, that is what the Portal/My.parkland is for. The only information that should be on the Parkland.edu site should be related to recruitment of new students but we have a bunch more information to share with our population, whether that’s info on scholarships or when a specialty lab is going to be open. This info used to be on the Parkland.edu site but that doesn’t really fit into the website as a recruitment tool but we still wanted to have our information available online but easily accessible. We know the internet is the first place students look for info, until they get used to My.parkland, so until then we will be sharing our info—and our thoughts—on this site. We hope you like it.
